Based just 15 miles from the hotel, in Appledore, the original Gusbourne estate dates back to 1410. In 2004, Andrew Weeber took over the estate with a clear vision and a single goal: to create English sparkling wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe. Charlie Holland has been head winemaker at Gusbourne for over five years, and also serves as the company’s CEO. Prior to joining Gusbourne, he made wines in France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand and California, and was winemaker for four years at Ridgeview. Under his tutelage, Gusbourne have been the only three-time winner of the IWSC’s ‘English Wine Producer of the Year’, awarded in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
During this exclusive wine dinner, you will indulge in a selection of specially chosen award-winning still and sparkling wines from Gusbourne’s cellar, paired with dishes created by Eastwell Manor’s Executive Head Chef, James Pressly. Charlie will be discussing the estate and his own role as winemaker, and will guide you in an exploration of the different characteristics of each vintage wine. Arrival from 7pm, dining from 7.30pm.
